Amy and Blake’s intimate elopement wedding in Chicago was a dream. They are such a sweet couple and I loved getting to be a part of their special day!
Intimate Elopement Wedding Now – Big Wedding Later
When the pandemic hit, Amy and Blake decided that when it came to wedding planning, their choice was not to choose. Instead of waiting to get married, Amy and Blake chose to go ahead with an intimate elopement wedding at his family’s Chicago home. But in order to keep their original plans too, they pushed their larger (200+) celebration to 2022. Best of both worlds, right? This seems to be a common trend – intimate elopement weddings AND larger celebrations later.
Getting Ready
Amy, her mom, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, and maid of honor got ready at the Nobu Hotel in Fulton Market. It was a moment to ready for the day with just those closest to her, and it was so special!
Private Ceremony
Amy and Blake got married in a small ceremony (just 15 people!) in his parent’s home off the 606. It was so special, and each person in attendance felt included and important.
Something Old, Something New…
Amy’s grandma gifted her the handkerchief from her great grandmother’s wedding that has been passed down. It was such a special piece of family history that she was able to carry with her on this day.
Dinner and Toasts
After they got married, they had a private chef intimate dinner with toasts. Amy and Blake went around the table and spoke about how much each individual person meant to them and how much they loved them. Blake’s mom recalled old quotes from Blake from when he was little and she asked about his future wedding. He said, “mommy, what happens after you get married? Do you just play all day together?” and she spoke about how when he and his sister were young they’d tell her highs from their day.
Mom, I Met A Girl…
Usually Blake didn’t have too much to say at these family dinners, but the day he met Amy was different. She was one of his highs for that day! He mentioned “I met a girl today, her name is Amy” and that’s the moment Blake’s mom Diane knew this was the girl he was going to marry. Other toasts acknowledge the hard work they both put in, the loyalty and commitment each other make to create a beautiful life with their life long friends and family members.
