Summer Peninsula Hotel Wedding Chicago

Aren’t we all ready for some summer sun and outdoor fun? Lana + Davis are on the blog today bringing back some summer wedding memories to get us all ready for the upcoming season with their Summer Peninsula Hotel Wedding in Chicago.

A Little Background

The street around the Peninsula hotel in chicago is shown on a beautiful summer day. The bride's engagement ring is displayed on a pink background. The groom gets ready for his wedding in his custom tux.

They truly had the most beautiful weather for a June wedding – textbook perfection! Lana and Davis met as freshmen at the University of Colorado. As you can imagine, with Lana’s family from the East Coast and Davis’ family from Colorado, family from both sides of the country were in attendance, making this a true family affair.

A Little Tradition

Lana and Davis celebrated their union in a traditional Jewish Wedding with the Ketubah, Hurrah, and an absolutely stunning Chuppah. I always love when my clients incorporate personal details into their ceremony. Incorporating the Jewish heritage into the ceremony made such a special day. Another tradition incorporated into the day was Lana’s watch. She wore a Cartier watch handed down from her grandmother, then to her mother, and then to her on her 25th birthday.

A Little Detailed

Lana and Davis (and their families) were all over this wedding. From the wedding invites (which Lana designed herself) to the shoes (Lana used her “something borrowed” when she borrowed these from her mom), every detail was chosen specifically to reflect the couple and their love. Lana’s vision for the wedding was to have a romantic, enchanted whimsical garden feel brought indoors. I think it delivered, don’t you?

A Little Bit Custom

I love it when the groom takes the moment for himself in a wedding. After all, the day is just as much about him! Davis was definitely one of my favorite grooms. He had a custom tux made, ensuring he looked his best. But my favorite part? He walked down the aisle to a string quartet version of Shake It Off by Taylor Swift. Hearing that music come on while I was still behind the curtain gave me the best jolt of butterflies. I couldn’t stop smiling and laughing. I knew in that moment that marrying him meant a lifetime of pure, exquisite joy.

A Little Bit of Privacy

They spent cocktail hour in their own room with a private appetizer spread and champagne. For Lana and Davis, having an hour to decompress in between the ceremony and reception was wonderful. They had time to grab a bite, practice their first dance and even had a 10 minute magic show with a magician, who spent the rest of his time out on the terrace with the guests.

A Little Dreamy

From Lana: “The table numbers came to me in a dream during our first year together. I envisioned them as puzzle pieces, because we “fit together like a puzzle”. I woke up, sketched it out and pinned it to my bulletin board way back then. When the time came to create the real thing, I found a vendor on Etsy who custom made acrylic puzzle pieces with gold numbers and gold edges. We attached these to a vine covered stick and planted them into little flower pots. The escort cards were wooden puzzle pieces with guests’ names on them.”

A Little Future

After 6 years of experiencing the beautiful Colorado lifestyle together, they decided to move cross country to Chicago, where they currently call home. They’ve fallen in love with each other countless times and can’t wait for a lifetime of falling deeper.
