Katie and Jess’s Galleria Marchetti summer wedding in Chicago was a beautiful celebration from beginning to end. I had the honor of capturing not just their wedding day, but also their welcome party at The Oakville in the West Loop the night before. It was such a great way to kick things off, as it was an intimate, relaxed evening at a stunning restaurant filled with good food, laughter, and all the people they love most, which set the tone for everything to come.
Getting Ready at The Langham
Katie got ready at The Langham Hotel Chicago, surrounded by her best friends. The energy in the room was fun, supportive, and filled with laughter. After hair and makeup, thanks to the amazing AW Artistry Bridal team, Katie and Jess met for their first look, followed by portraits at the iconic Board of Trade building downtown. These two looked so classic and elegant against the architectural backdrop.
After our downtown portraits, we headed to the venue for a few more photos before the ceremony. One thing I loved about Katie and Jess’s day was that everything, ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception, was held at Galleria Marchetti. When all the events are at one location it makes for such a seamless, relaxed experience for both the couple and their guests. This allowed us to have a little extra time for portraits and them to have more time with their loved ones.
Katie and Jess had a larger wedding party, and I absolutely love big, lively groups like this. They bring such an infectious energy, especially during the pre-ceremony excitement and on the dance floor later. That said, it takes a photographer who can match that energy and still efficiently guide the group through portraits and key moments, which I thrive on! We kept the vibes high, the timing smooth, and got all the must-have shots without sacrificing the fun.
On top of that, Galleria Marchetti is a total gem when it comes to Chicago wedding venues. Located just west of downtown, Galleria Marchetti feels like a tucked-away garden in the middle of the city. The space is airy, romantic, and versatile with outdoor and tented spaces, beautiful landscaping, and an Italian-inspired setting that works with just about any vision. The garden vibe of the venue was enhanced by Katie and Jess’s elegant wedding vision.
A Ceremony Full of Meaning
Their ceremony was held outdoors in the venue’s stunning courtyard. Family members officiated the ceremony, making this moment even more meaningful, as it added such a personal and heartfelt touch.
Katie and Jess also shared personal vows, which are always a favorite of mine to photograph. The emotion and candid reactions they evoke are truly one-of-a-kind. Their sweet vows brought everyone in attendance to tears, while also making them laugh. It was truly a beautiful ceremony.
Galleria Marchetti Summer Wedding Reception
Guests enjoyed cocktail hour outdoors on this warm June evening. Guests came dressed to impress, and I loved seeing all the fashion as guests mingled. Then, there was the tented ballroom reception that was transformed by florals and greenery by Life in Bloom Chicago. The crystal chandeliers and stringed lights elevated the space along with the greenery hanging from the ceiling. The soft lighting and drapery made everything glow, creating a romantic yet modern ambiance that fit Katie and Jess’s vision perfectly. NSWE Events did an amazing job planning and bringing all the amazing wedding details together.
The energy throughout the day was high and exciting and that was most apparent when the dance floor opened up! The Chicago Players kept the music going and the dance floor full all evening. The newlyweds set the tone by letting loose and soaking in every moment.
