This past January, I had the pleasure of photographing an exclusive event hosted by PartySlate at the newly opened Uptown Glencoe in Glencoe, Illinois. The planner event at Uptown Glencoe was a member-only gathering designed to showcase this stunning new modernly designed venue to event planners while providing a delightful evening of culinary and musical experiences.

Uptown Glencoe: A Cozy New Event Space

Uptown Glencoe, a sophisticated and cozy event space, is the brainchild of Lou and Julie Rubin, the owners of Hometown Coffee & Juice. Over the years, Lou and Julie received numerous requests to host events at Hometown. However, the café’s limited space made it impossible. When the opportunity arose to expand into the space above Hometown, they jumped at the opportunity to create a dedicated event venue. The result is Uptown Glencoe!

As described on their website, “We designed Uptown to feel like a giant living room, fully furnished with loungy furniture and custom wood cabinetry. It’s cozy and intimate, yet spacious enough to accommodate large groups. We are so grateful to everyone who helped bring Uptown to life. We cannot wait to host your special and memorable event!”

To celebrate and introduce this new venue to the planning community, PartySlate partnered with Uptown Glencoe to host an unforgettable evening. The event was meticulously planned to highlight the versatility and charm of this new venue, making it an appealing option for future events and celebrations.

Culinary Excellence by Ilixir

One of the evening’s highlights was the amazing and unique culinary experience provided by Ilixir, an innovative events and in-home private chef and catering company. Simon Davies, a former chef at Alinea, a top three-star Michelin restaurant in Chicago founded Ilixir. His expertise and creativity were evident in every dish served that night. The evening’s culinary experience was further elevated by Steven Morgan, Ilixir’s sommelier, who carefully selected and paired wines with each course.

An Event to Remember

The event kicked off with a cocktail hour, allowing guests to mingle, explore the space, and enjoy a selection of sophisticated appetizers and drinks. Uptown’s design truly shone during this time, with its warm, inviting atmosphere making everyone feel at home. The intimate lighting, cozy furniture, and beautiful wood cabinetry created a perfect setting for networking and conversation.

Following cocktail hour, guests indulged in a private multi-course dinner prepared by Ilixir. Each course was a masterpiece, reflecting Simon Davies’ fine dining background and innovative approach to cuisine. Throughout the dinner, live music added to the event’s overall experience. The carefully chosen tunes complemented the evening’s sophisticated yet relaxed vibe, creating a truly memorable experience for all attendees.
